Happy last month of summer! I can't believe it's August already. The summer is flying by. Here in my little corner of the PNW, we still have another month before school starts, but I know many folks are starting back in the next week or two.
It's been quite a while since I last blogged for a number of reasons including a concussion and grieving the loss of my father. Both of these were hard experiences, especially the loss of my dad. I've experienced a lot of loss in my life, but it doesn't seem to get any easier. And there isn't a "right way" to do it. Everyone is different and experiences grief differently.
So, things have been complicated, but I'm ready to get back on the horse. I've updated the website and I'm hoping to post more frequently and consistently, mainly continuing to jot down my thoughts on books and writing, with a little side of nature thrown in.
And on that note, I will end this little update with a picture from my family's trip to the North Cascades early in the summer. We haven't had time to do much traveling lately, but we were able to get away to the mountains for a long weekend. We stayed in a cabin with no tv or internet. It was so refreshing to have a break from screens. We spent our days hiking, and in the evenings we worked puzzles and read books. It was so good for all of us!
The view of the beautiful Diablo Lake from the vista point. This picture doesn't do the incredible water justice. The color is so rich and vivid in real life. If you get the chance to visit, I highly recommend!
I hope your last few weeks of summer of filled with sun and relaxation!
Lana
